  Biostratigraphy
Biostratigraphic studies are designed to evaluate the age and paleoenvironment of potential source rock intervals in order to assist exploration efforts. Each sample is analyzed for calcareous nannofossils and palynomorphs. The important species are age dated in relative and numerical age (where possible). The palynomorphs are also interpreted for paleoenvironmental data. Sample age is correlated with the Global Cycle Chart of Hardenbol et al. or Wornardt, et al.

The interpreted properties typically reported include:
1. Age date(s) for each sample in relative age and in millions of years (Ma),
2. Identify different age samples in the same well,
3. Identify same age samples in different wells,
4. Identify samples with same age and different TOC/ maturity,
5. Identify samples with different age and similar TOC/maturity,
6. Samples assigned to a Maximum Flooding Surface where applicable,
7. Associate Formations and potential reservoirs with age of samples,
8. Age of samples to associated Maximum Flooding Surface(s) in Ma (where applicable),
9. Data to understand and interpret time of migration and generation,
10. Age of potential source rocks and seals.
